Infratil had received a number of investor queries about power delivery timelines for under-construction sites in Australia, according to its NZX notice on 21 October 2026.
CDC has confirmed it has robust delivery plans for all sites under construction and that power delivery and construction timelines are tracking as anticipated, the notice said.
CDC-related financial guidance is unchanged, according to Infratil.
Infratil holds about half of CDC, which runs three data centres across two Auckland campuses as well as its Australian campuses.
The notice came on the same day NEXTDC cut its FY27 guidance after a power delay at its M3 data centre in Melbourne.
Infratil has informed the NZX that CDC's power delivery and construction timelines for its Australian sites under construction are tracking as anticipated. The notice, released at 2.31pm NZ time on 21 October 2026, said Infratil had received a number of investor queries about power delivery timelines for under-construction sites in Australia.
"CDC has confirmed that it has robust delivery plans for all sites under construction, power delivery and construction timelines are tracking as anticipated and CDC-related financial guidance is unchanged," according to the notice. It covers every CDC site under construction in Australia. Infratil chief financial officer Matthew Ross authorised the release.
Infratil's notice gives its shareholders a direct answer on power timing, on a day when power supply was the question hanging over NEXTDC.
Our read is that Infratil moved to separate CDC from NEXTDC's problem before investors drew the link themselves. Its shares had fallen earlier in the week, and a short, specific statement on power is the quickest way to answer that.
NEXTDC cut its guidance the same day
Earlier on 21 October, ASX-listed NEXTDC cut its FY27 guidance after Jemena suspended network works that supply more power to its M3 data centre in Melbourne. Residents had objected to new 15-metre poles in the city's inner west. NEXTDC now expects the next increase in grid supply to M3 in FY28. It took about A$140 million of revenue out of its FY27 guidance, and its shares fell about 40 per cent when trading resumed after a two-day halt. They closed the day at A$5.35, down 41.7 per cent from A$9.18. The M3 capacity remains under contract, subject to the customer's rights, and construction of its data halls is continuing, according to NEXTDC's release. NEXTDC has put new development projects and land acquisitions on hold.
In New Zealand, NEXTDC withdrew its consent application for a 15MW data centre in central Auckland, BusinessDesk reported on the same day.
Infratil's shares had come under pressure earlier in the week. Its ASX-listed shares fell 5.3 per cent on 19 October, and BusinessDesk reported that analysts attributed the NZX fall that day to souring sentiment around data centres. Infratil's NZX shares closed at NZ$12.39 on 21 October. That was 2.4 per cent above the previous close of NZ$12.10, according to Yahoo Finance data. Infratil also trades on the ASX.
CDC is building across Australia
CDC runs a single business across Australia and New Zealand. Infratil holds 49.69 per cent of it at 30 September 2026, alongside the Australian Government's Future Fund, the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation and management. Infratil reported CDC's independent valuation at A$18.5 billion, about NZ$22.5 billion, at 30 June 2026, with a development pipeline of about 3.9GW to 2040. At 30 September 2026 CDC had 550MW of leasable operating capacity and 810MW under construction, across the two countries together, and contracted capacity of 1.1GW, up 70MW in the quarter.

In Australia, CDC's sites under construction include four large campuses. Marsden Park in Sydney was approved at 504MW on 27 November 2025. Laverton in Melbourne will be over 400MW when complete. Brooklyn in Melbourne will be over 350MW. In Perth, operations at Maddington are due to start in January 2027. In Victoria, where Laverton and Brooklyn sit, the state government has announced rules that ban data centres within 150 metres of homes and schools and require renewable energy and non-drinking water, the ABC reported. CDC's 576MW Canberra proposal is heading to a full environmental review. CDC has offered up to A$225 million in community benefits for its proposed Gregadoo campus near Wagga Wagga, announced on 13 October.
CDC's Auckland campuses
In New Zealand, CDC operates three data centres across its Silverdale and Hobsonville campuses in Auckland. By the company's own figures, Silverdale Campus One provides 22MW, Hobsonville Campus One 22MW and Hobsonville Campus Two 54MW, with total Auckland capacity planned above 220MW. That is the largest built data centre footprint any operator in New Zealand has disclosed.
CDC and Contact Energy have set out plans to seek resource consent for a 250MW data centre at Stratford in Taranaki. New Zealand's wider market is set out in our operator-by-operator guide.
What to watch
Infratil's half-year result. Infratil reports its results for the half year to 30 September on 18 November 2026, its NZX notice of 14 October said.
CDC's Stratford plans. Contact Energy and CDC plan to seek resource consent for the 250MW Stratford data centre in Taranaki, on the site of a gas plant Contact retired in 2026. Contact has said it is prepared to take an equity interest of up to 50 per cent. It would be CDC's first New Zealand campus outside Auckland.
NEXTDC's capital review. NEXTDC has committed to announcing the outcome of its capital expenditure review by its annual general meeting on 20 November 2026.
